Debutant Rachit Singh, an acting coach for a decade, receives praise for his performance as Veeran in Thamma

After a decade of shaping performances behind the scenes, Rachit Singh has stepped into the spotlight — and how! The acting coach turned actor is earning widespread praise for his powerful debut as Veeran in Thamma, marking an inspiring new chapter in his creative journey.
In Thamma, Rachit brings to life the character of Veeran, a loyal devotee of the Betaal sect who worships ‘Thama’ Yakshasan — portrayed by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. His unwavering devotion to his master drives him into conflict with Tadaka (played by Rashmika Mandanna), who fights to shield Alok (played by Ayushmann Khurrana) from Yakshasan’s dark powers.
Rachit also plays a vampire in the film — a performance that demanded immense physical transformation that made him look true to his character further proving his commitment to authenticity and depth.
Speaking about his debut, Rachit shared, “Thamma is very special because it represents both a beginning and a full circle for me. After spending years training actors to perform truthfully, stepping in front of the camera was both terrifying and exhilarating. Veeran challenged me in ways I hadn’t imagined — it was about surrendering completely to the story and trusting the process. Working alongside Ayushmann, Rashmika, and Nawazuddin sir was surreal, and I’m deeply grateful for all the love and warmth coming my way. This debut feels like a dream that’s finally found its moment.”
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the Maddock Films horror-comedy unfolds as a “bloody love story” — blending fantasy, romance, and humor as it follows Ayushmann’s transformation into a vampire and his forbidden love with Rashmika’s character.
