Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari Curates ‘Femme Lens’ at Red Lorry Film Festival 2026, Spotlighting Films Helmed by Women Directors

The Red Lorry Film Festival (RLFF) 2026, curated and presented by BookMyShow, returns to Mumbai from March 13 to 15, unveiling a thoughtfully curated selection of films under its Femme Lens category, a dedicated showcase of films directed by women across geographies, genres and formats.

Anchoring this section is filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, who comes on board as the Curator of Femme Lens at RLFF 2026. Known for her sensitive, character-driven storytelling and strong female perspectives, Tiwari’s curatorial vision shapes a line-up that foregrounds women as creators, not subjects.

The Femme Lens selection spans international premieres, Indian stories and documentary features, cutting across fiction and non-fiction. Titles in the category include Peak Everything, Isola, The Portuguese House and The Remnants of You, which screen as part of Femme Lens and the festival’s Hola Spain collaboration.

Hollywood Showcase premieres under Femme Lens feature Mona Fastvold’s The Testament of Ann Lee, a bold biographical musical exploring faith, rebellion and womanhood, alongside Couture and Wardriver, the latter directed by Rebecca Thomas and led by Sasha Calle, reclaiming the high-stakes thriller genre through a female protagonist.

Indian cinema finds representation through Turtle Walker, screening under Indian Spotlight / Femme Lens, while the Reality Bytes / Femme Lens section brings in acclaimed documentaries including Baby Doe, Circusboy, and the Oscar-submitted Czech film I’m Not Everything I Want to Be, directed by Klára Tasovská, an intimate portrait of photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková told through diaries and photographs.

The category also extends to Rendezvous with French Cinema / Femme Lens, featuring You Found Me and NINO, further underlining the global scope of women-led storytelling at this year’s festival.

Speaking about the intent behind the category, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Curator – Femme Lens, said, “Femme Lens is about celebrating women behind the camera, their gaze, their questions and their storytelling choices. These films are deeply personal, strong insights and emotionally resonant, and together they reflect the many ways women are shaping contemporary cinema across an evolving sociopolitical changing world.

Ashish Saksena, Festival Director, Red Lorry Film Festival, added, “With Femme Lens, we are not creating a side section, but placing women filmmakers at the heart of the festival’s curatorial identity. Ashwiny’s involvement brings both sensitivity and clarity to this vision, making the category one of the defining pillars of RLFF 2026.”

Passes for the Red Lorry Film Festival 2026 are available on BookMyShow.
