Story – Fateh (Sonu Sood), a modest individual from Moga, Punjab, undergoes a drastic transformation into a merciless assassin when a young girl falls prey to a menacing cyber crime syndicate that exploits innocent victims throughout the country.
Reviews – Sonu Sood’s inaugural directorial effort thoroughly examines the widespread menace of cyber crime, a contemporary affliction causing significant turmoil in India. With mobile devices serving as potential weaknesses, the film illustrates how avarice and desperation render individuals susceptible to malicious online predators. The storyline commences with Fateh’s tranquil existence in rural Punjab but swiftly shifts to a gripping narrative as a traumatic event propels him into a quest to dismantle a cyber crime organization. The film immerses viewers in action from the outset, leading them through a gritty and violent odyssey. Although the rapid pace captivates the audience, the character backstories lack the necessary depth to establish a robust emotional bond, resulting in a narrative that occasionally feels superficial and exaggerated.
The action sequences are strikingly intense, reminiscent of the stylized violence found in Hollywood productions such as John Wick and Kill Bill, as well as the local film Animal. However, the increasing brutality may not appeal to all viewers.
In his directorial debut, Sonu Sood effectively orchestrates the action, and his portrayal, perhaps intentionally, does not explore the character’s emotional dimensions in depth. Naseeruddin Shah and Vijay Raaz leave a notable impression despite their limited screen presence, with Raaz’s clever humor providing moments of levity amidst the otherwise somber narrative. Jacqueline Fernandez delivers a commendable performance as ethical hacker Khushi, and it is commendable that the film steers clear of unnecessary romantic subplots.
Screenplay – The screenplay, co-written by Sonu Sood and Ankur Pajni, navigates various settings to underscore the extensive impact of cyber crimes. While the film’s relentless tempo is a notable asset, the storyline occasionally strays into implausible territory; however, the rapid advancement of digital fraud today lends some credibility to even its more improbable elements.
