Chris Pine talks about being nervous to sing opposite Oscar winner Ariana DeBose in Disney’s Wish
The Oscar winner reveals that Chris Pines voice will surprise fans
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ all-new musical comedy, Wish, is set to celebrate 100 years of Disney bringing magic to the big screen. Voicing the lead characters Asha and King Magnifico, both Ariana DeBose and Chris Pine are sure to transport audiences to the magical land of Wish.
While the actor has showcased his vocal talent in the past, in a recent interview, Chris Pine admitted to feeling nervous about performing opposite Oscar winner Ariana DeBose in the upcoming Disney animated film Wish. The actor shared, “Not at all. It’s just not something I do on a daily, when you’re singing opposite Ariana… it’s a big deal.”
Knowing about Chris Pine was nervous because of her, Ariana Debose said, “He can sing! He can absolutely sing. When I found out that I was cast in this film, I was like, ‘Oh!’ I mean, did you see him in Into The Woods? …I think Chris is one of those examples of not understanding just how talented he is.”
She also shared that fans will be surprised when they hear Pine’s work in Wish, saying, “I love the sound of his voice, the way that he molds words. He is a delicious villain. You know people are going to love to hate him, and I just love watching him work.”
The movie welcomes audiences to the magical kingdom of Rosas, where Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.
Disney India is all set to release ‘Wish’ on November 24, 2023. Only in cinemas.
